Thursday, September 27 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

Yes, yes it does. Also, the team standings and schedule has been updated, as well as the finals schedule put online. If you have any time conflicts with the finals schedule, be sure to contact your team captain. Otherwise, we'll see you on the field as the competition heats up.

Monday, September 24 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

Unfortunately, there are some pretty intense lightning strikes outside, so all Frisbockey games starting after 9 o'clock have been canceled for today (Monday). Sorry, folks! E-mails will be going out about reschedules soon.

Saturday Games CANCELED

Saturday, September 22 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

Even though all Friday games were moved to this Saturday, many teams will be at the Football game during the best available time. So, all games have been further delayed (until next Friday). Check out the team schedule for all of the details.

Frisbockey Games CANCELED

Friday, September 21 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

Due to the high wind speed warnings of 30 mph with 65 mph gusts for Friday, September 21, all Frisbockey games have been canceled. These games have been rescheduled for Saturday, September 22, starting at 1pm. The schedule on the events page has been updated to reflect these changes, and your captain has more details. Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Wednesday, September 19 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, fundraiser

We will be holding a mass hair cutting during Spring Fling where anyone can donate their hair, regardless of the length, to Wigs for Kids. To register for the cutting, please sign up at housing.mtu.edu/irhc/hair.html. Registered participants will receive free stuff throughout the year as a thank you for their participation.

Photo Scavenger Hunt Successful

Tuesday, September 18 2007 - Steven O'Dacre - Tags: event

Our first Photo Scavenger Hunt went extremely well! Like any first event, there were a few glitches--in our case, the quality of the disposable cameras we used wasn't that great, so a few photos didn't turn out. However, we took all of that into consideration while judging, and we did emerge with a clear winner: Team 13, captained by Jesse Tardiff! Their prize? Four pretty sweet digital photo fames with a 2GB SD card each! We had a total of thirteen teams sign up, but two dropped out (Teams 11 and 12). The teams that did participate, though, said that they had a great time! Hopefully, we'll have a similar scavenger hunt (with many new things to find, and lots of harder things) in the spring semester! We'll keep you posted! Meanwhile, check out some nifty pictures teams took on the Event Photos page.

Optional Frisbockey Games

Tuesday, September 18 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

Due to the inclement weather today and the water level on our fields, Frisbockey games are optional. Please contact your respective team captain for details.

Frisbockey: Week One

Saturday, September 15 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

The first week of Frisbockey has finally drawn to a chilly, wet close. Though some teams have dominated over the competition, it's hard to say what teams will make it all the way to finals. Also, with an average temperature in the low 50s for the first week and higher (70s) temperatures heading into second week, there's no telling what the future team stats will look like. For photos or to view team stats for this season, check out the events page.

IRHC Programming Meeting Time Clarification

Thursday, September 13 2007 - Steven O'Dacre - Tags: governmental meeting

We apologize for any confusion there may have been about the time of the upcoming IRHC Programming Meeting. It's at 7pm, in G17/19 W Wads! We hope to see you there.

Frisbockey Not Cancelled

Tuesday, September 11 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

The weather is awful today, but Frisbockey is not canceled. Make sure to show up with your teams on time.

Frisbockey Season

Sunday, September 9 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

With 32 teams signed up to play Frisbockey this year (almost twice from last year), there's no doubt that this is truly Tech's fastest growing sport! Games will be every week night, 8pm to 10:40pm, so if you're not playing be sure to come out and cheer on your favorite team! The schedule can be found on the events page, and we'll be uploading pictures as soon as the season starts.

K Day Recap

Friday, September 7 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: kday, event, cotton candy

Even though K-Day was held in the SDC due to inclement weather, many students and groups headed up to the SDC to celebrate this Michigan Tech tradition. There were plenty of activities to enjoy, including inflatables, WMTU root beer, and dozens of booths with varying activities. IRHC alone gave away over 500 cotton candy cones and 400 condoms, as well as dozens of brochures. Even though K-Day inside is a fraction of the normal event, Tech students still managed to have fun in our gym! Be sure to check out the pictures on the Event Photos page.

Frisbockey Info

Tuesday, September 4 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: event, frisbockey

The Frisbockey team registration packets and 2007 rules have been uploaded on the events page. This packet as well as a rep (preferably the captain) need to be at the captain's meeting on September 8, 4pm, in G17/19 W Wads for the team to be registered. Also, today marks the first preseason game after Orientation Week, so if you want to try out the game or pick up some free gear, come down to Walker field and play some Frisbockey! All games are played rain or shine.

Grow Something a Success

Monday, September 3 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: orientation week, event

A new event this year, 'Grow Something' has turned out to be a huge success. Originally planned to last four hours, we gave away 250 free plants in under 20 minutes! For the residents who did not receive a plant this time, we are hoping to order up to four times as much for next year's event to be ready for this unexpected demand. Check out photos on the events page of the giveaway.

Schoolyard Olympics

Monday, September 3 2007 - Jacob Emerick - Tags: orientation week, schoolyard olympics, event

This event coordinated with IRHC, DHHC, MHA, WHSA, and Res Life met with great success on Sunday, Sept 2. About 700 residents competed in a variety of events, including the impromptu 'Musical Chairs', and everyone (especially the staff) had a great time! Though the winners won't be announced until a future hall council meeting, feel free to check out images of the event and check back here in a week or so to find out the winners of Schoolyard Olympics.
